Bentley Continental Supersports, Green Luxury

In perfect sync with the United Nations Climate Change Conference's (COP15) debut in Copenhagen, British carmaker Bentley decided to remind a bit of the feats achieved by its Continental Supersports this year.

So, Bentley proudly announced that the Continental Supersports managed to meet the 85 percent recyclability standard (95 percent for recoverability) demanded of all the Bentley Continental range.

What may very well be the cleanest Bentley out there, the Supersports is also the first one to use FlexFuel technology, which allows it to run on E85 biofuel, gasoline or any combination of the two (not exactly something you would want to advertise to a Bentley buyer, but hey... ).

What you would like to advertise to the same buyer is the official recycling pre-certification given by the German Motor Transport Authority (KBA) back in May. Why would you advertise this? Well, Bentley is among the few luxury car manufacturers to achieve the feat and, we all know, a premium buyer looks to purchase something not many have...(regardless of what that special something does).

Then, the Supersports is the lightest road-going car from Crewe and it can reach 204 mph (329km/h), two traits which also add to its uniqueness. Oh, and by the way, it is the "the most extreme production car in the company’s 90-year history", so... (Bentley dixit)

Producing the fastest Bentley was a challenge in itself. However, we were equally determined not to sacrifice any environmental aspect in pursuit of this goal. The result is the paradox that the most extreme Bentley ever, is also the greenest,” Arno Homburg, Head of Whole vehicle Development at Bentley Motors said in a release.
