Benelli GT600 Tourer Rumored
Chinese-owned Benelli is rumored to deliver a new GT-class machine soon, this leaked photo tells us. It was reportedly leaked from one of Qianjiang’s design labs and it shows a bike in police-spec trim, but voices in the industry say that the “civil” version of the bike is in fact very close to launch.
Now, while some riders might hyperventilate a bit, it looks like this new machine, if the rumors turn out to be true, is nothing but the plain BN600 naked platform with some more plastic fairings on it. Qianjiang has a long history of selling the same bike with slightly different attires under a variety of brand names in different markets, and it looks like this is happening to the BN600.

The GT600 is supposed to have a two-up seat and will most likely accommodate saddlebags and a top-case. Underneath the civil-spec fairings this Benelli is said to pack the high-revving in-line 4-cylinder engine of the BN600, capable of delivering 82 horsepower @11,500 and 52Nm (38.3 lb-ft) of torque 1,000 rpm lower.

A really intriguing detail can be seen in this rendering. It’s the visible part of the police-spec bike’s swingarm, which looks like the sport-minded one on the BN600. This might hint on Benelli using almost the same chassis for the GT600, which is a rather peculiar thing. Not that using modern-tech swingarms is a bad thing, but a naked streetfighter’s riding stance has little to do with the dynamics of a cruiser, if anything at all.

Either way, we’re most likely going to see the new Benelli in November, if not even sooner.
