The name Imperia GP might not be extremely popular around the world. The company was founded in 1904 and built motorcycles and automobiles until 1958 being bought 50 years later by Green Propulsion with only $523 (€400).
These days the Belgian brand builds only one car and it's called Imperia GP. The first thing that hits you when looking at the Imperia is the striking resemblance with the Weismann GT. The similarities don't end here.
Looking under the bonnet, the GP is also powered by a BMW engine. However, compared to the Weismann GT that is powered by a V8 twin turbo BMW engine, the GP is fitted with a hybrid propulsion system that has a 1.6-liter unit as centerpiece.
The hybrid powertrain gives the Imperia GP a total of 350 HP and 450 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. The 1.6-liter engine delivers 200 HP and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque whilst the electric motor brings 150 HP and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque to the table.
With this configuration, the GP goes from a stand still to 100 km/h in 4 seconds in hybrid mode. When using only the electric motor, the car is done with the benchmark in 6 seconds.
The most interesting number about this car, though, is the fuel consumption. According to Imperia officials, the GP has a combined fuel consumption of 1.9 l/100 km (123.8 mpg).
As expected this car also comes with a price tag, and it isn't cheap. The high-end model costs €125,000 ($163,300) whilst a more basic version will set you back around €95,000 ($124,000).
