Beaulieu Hosting Trucks & Troops Event

According to a recent press release from the Beaulieu National Motor Museum, the Trucks & Troops event is scheduled to take place between May 28 - 30 this year. It will be organized by the South Hampshire Area of the Military Vehicle Trust and is designed to celebrates the development of military transport over the years.

Over 200 individual vehicles of every kind will be on display, including everything from push-bikes to armorer and tracked vehicles, dating back to World War II and all the way to the Golf War. Among the vehicles present there, we would mention Jeeps, Dodges, Bedfords, GMCs, Austin Champs and, of course, Land Rovers.

A number of re-enactments will be staged, including the Vietnam war group, Rolling Thunder and the Dorset Regiment. Participants will be wearing uniforms and equipment corresponding to the vehicles on display and will be talking to visitors about life as a soldier while re-creating camps and situations in which they would have lived and fought.

Live actions that visitors can watch on the Beaulieu Arena include Rolling Thunder, a Royal Marine Cadet Field Gun display and some bands providing musical entertainment. Those looking for some period-accurate goodies, like gas masks for uniforms, should definitely walk around the militaria stalls.

Beaulieu has also taken time to think about the entertainment of the youngest of the visitors, for which a Commando Assault Course, a Model Boat Pond and Model Tank Village have been included. There will also be ample opportunities to dress up in Army camouflage, and get to know some real soldiers from the modern British Army.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
