Now that things are settled, and the former Top Gear trio has found a new home, namely Amazon Prime UK, those left behind have been waiting for something on their part. The British media outlet has just announced they are bringing just one member of the older format back in a new show that’s bound to kick off next year.
A couple a weeks ago, Amazon Prime UK officially confirmed they have signed the car world entertainers for three series of a new motoring show. Truth be told, they never mentioned anything about The Stig. The said Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are back together.

They also assured the format of the new show will resemble BBC's, considering producer Andy Wilman will also be on board. In fact, it’s supposed to be even better, now that there’s no public network involved. Again, what happens to the famous anonymous driver who’d race all the guests on each show and prove he is the best? Where is The Stig in this equation?

Well, he clearly had no chance to build the show on his own, as the Top Gear website suggested at some point not long ago. With BBC1’s official press release, now we know. Here’s what they said:

Presented by Dermot O’Leary, the Saturday night entertainment show, The Getaway Car, will see couples compete in a series of exciting driving challenges that test the limits of their relationships behind the wheel of a car. Can married couples, grandparents and grandchildren, brothers and sisters or best friends work together to scoop the top prize? Or for that matter, will they still be talking afterwards? The Getaway Car is packed with thrills, laughter and challenges. At the centre of the show is the fastest driver of his generation: the enigmatic, the iconic, The Stig. Nobody said winning the money would be easy.”

Will The Getaway Car rival Amazon Prime’s show? Most likely yes, but that’s a thing only time will tell.
