Badoer to Conduct 2-Day Test of the Ferrari F60

Unlike Michael Schumacher a couple of weeks ago, Ferrari's test driver Luca Badoer will be allowed to test-drive the Ferrari F60 for a couple of days at the Fiorano circuit. This will be Badoer's first ever outing with the 2009 challenger, as the Italian did not perform any mileage with the F60 during the off-season sessions the past winter.

As we've mentioned before, Schumacher's attempt to test-drive the F60 a few weeks ago was denied by three members of the Formula One Teams Association, under the in-season testing ban rules for the 2009 season. While asking for prior permission to test the car, Schumacher and Ferrari encountered some tough opposition from Williams, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.

However, this won't be the case with Badoer. The Italian already holds a FIA super license and is currently test driver for the Scuderia, which makes him viable for Ferrari promotional campaigns. Actually, his 2-day stint with the F60 “will be part of a video shooting”, as announced by Ferrari, and will be ran “for promotional purposes.”

Tomorrow and Tuesday Luca will be part of a video shooting for promotional purposes behind the F60’s wheel at the Fiorano race track,” said the press release from Ferrari, which also announced that the Scuderia will resume work on their F1 factory starting Tuesday.

Badoer insisted that he is physically ready to take on the job from Felipe Massa, despite the fact that he hasn't raced at professional level – in Formula One – for the past decade.

Although this year's rules foresee a drastically reduced mileage for us test drivers, I have prepared myself to be ready under any circumstances, just as I've been doing the last years too; I've been in this business for quite a while. After Felipe's accident I intensified my programme and I'm sure that I won't have any problems from this point of view,” said Badoer.
