Automobile Club d'Italia Becomes Euro NCAP Member

Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) has just became the twelfth member of the Euro NCAP family, a move that can be regarded as good news not only for drivers who'll see safer cars on Italian roads but also for companies producing very safe rides to be sold in Fiat's home market.

ACI, the main motoring organization in Italy, intensively promotes safety on public roads, so the tie-up with Euro NCAP was only a matter of time. And this would only help ACI continue its goals, the Italian representatives said.

"By joining Euro NCAP, ACI will further strengthen its role as an important advocate for safer cars on Italian roads," Enrico Gelpi, ACI’s President, said in an official statement.

Euro NCAP is also pleased by the increasing number of members and applauds ACI's efforts to raise the safety level provided by cars driven on Italian roads.

"With every new member that joins Euro NCAP, we build momentum and create new opportunities to raise awareness about safer cars. Italians love their cars and everything about cars. ACI’s membership will bring the Italian car buyers not only improvement in the availability of accurate and timely information about vehicle safety, but also more direct influence on future demands in terms of technology and fitment. We warmly welcome ACI and hope this new commitment will help further increase the safety culture in Italy,"
Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP Secretary General, explained in a press statement.

In case you're wondering what an Euro NCAP member actually does, it's worth mentioning that ACI will sponsor the Euro NCAP crash tests for at least one model per year, but will also contribute to the development of the tests conducted by the European organization.
