Australian Engineer Says Next Toyota Camry Will Be Fun to Drive

We were telling you yesterday that Toyota’s new plan is to offer more fun-to-drive vehicles instead of soulless economic “home appliances.” The idea was gladly received by Toyota’s engineers as one from Australia demonstrates.
Speaking with Car Advice, Toyota Technical Centre Australia president Max Gillard said the directive imposed by Akio Toyoda is being embraced by his local engineering team.

“Whether ‘dynamic’ is in the ride and handling, or the appearance … it [the directive] has been a big shot in the arm for our people, and not just our people, but all people in Toyota,” said Gillard. “We must provide the customer with emotional satisfaction with the decision, not just that it’s a good, economic decision to buy a Toyota”.

Gillard also revealed that his engineers are already in the US, working with other engineering teams on the next generation Toyota Camry, expected to arrive in 2016 and come with more driving appeal.
