There are only a few automakers out there who make 2.5-liter five-cylinder engines, and none are as awesome as the masters of quattro. This became abundantly clear today as the German company secured the Engine of the Year award in the 2.0-liter to 2.5-liter category with its 2.5 TFSI unit, the fourth such award won by the same unit in a row.
“The Audi TT RS is one of the most engaging smaller sports cars on the market. The sound and power of the throbbing, off-beat engine makes you feel like a Group B rally driver every time you get behind the wheel,” said the International Engine of the Year jury members.
The powerful engine used by the Audi TT RS, TT RS plus and RS Q3 SUV produces up to 360 PS between 5,500 and 6,700 rpm. Peak torque is 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) between 1,650 and 5,400 rpm, enabling 0 to 62 mph acceleration in 4.1 seconds in the TT RS plus Coupe.
A de-tuned version with only 310 PS and better economy will be used by the RS Q3, which we're still waiting to see entering production.
