Here we are writing again about that mind-blowing LaFerrari that made a lot of people drool over Geneva Motor Show's floors, but this time we need to turn our heads over to Germany's Ingolstadt.
Why? Because something very interesting might happen over there and you supercar freaks out there need to know it. What starts with a "La" and ends with an "Audi"? A LaFerrari rival of course.
But Audi's not planning on just any kind of supercar and no, it's not a tweaked R8 version. You'd better add a 1 to that 8 because this reportedly diesel-electric lightning bolt is coming straight from the Circuit de la Sarthe as a road version of Ingolstadt's two time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner R18.
It's not the first time Audi's pondering the idea, but Board Member Wolfgang Durheimer told Auto Express that the diesel-electric supercar is in the books. "The idea is still alive – I’m fighting for this idea as I think it would have the right effect on our brand perception… I think this deserves to be built," Durheimer said.
Given the large number of supercars unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, it will be very interesting to see if Audi can really provide "the absolute best supercar", as promised late last year.
