When Audi introduced the SQ5 SUV last year, they did so by offering it only with their latest twin-turbo diesel engine, the 3-liter TDI which produces 313 PS (308 hp) and peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft).
That’s impressive enough, but it also meant the hot new SUV couldn’t be offered to the US market. At the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, the German car company will reveal a petrol version of the same car, also powered by a V6.

The engine in question is Audi’s 3-liter supercharged V6. The 3.0 TFSI produces no less than 354 PS (349 hp) and twist all four wheels with its 470Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque.

Thanks to this and the eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, the SQ5 gasoline model will reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.3 seconds and doesn’t stop until the electronic nannies tell it to at 250 km/h (155 mph).

autoevolution will be attending the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
