German manufacturer Audi posted today sales for September 2009 in China, a country which slowly but surely made a place for itself in the car manufacturer's best markets. So much so, that Audi is now releasing the sales results for this country alone, as it does with the US and Europe.
Audi registered a 37 percent increase in sales in China, compared to the same month of 2008, making it the best month ever for the brand in China. The percentage translated into over 15,000 vehicles sold, an Audi first for China.
Last month's results bring the total of Audi vehicles sold in the country, including Hong Kong, to 108,859, an increase of some 20 percent compared to the January-September 2008 time frame.
“We have significantly increased our sales in China in the past few months and are on course for a new record year,” Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi marketing and sales member of the board said in a release.
As for nameplates, the Audi A4L sales grew in proportions by 53 percent in the first nine months, with Audi delivering 24,763 units. The Changchun built A6L sold 73,966 units, representing a 16 percent increase.
Audi expects the future to be even brighter in China, especially because of the addition of the Q5 to the Chinese output. To meet the forecasted increase in demand, Audi plans to expand the dealership network to include some 200 locations by 2015. At the moment, the Germans are represented by 139 dealerships in 88 cities.
