Despite 2.1 million Audis reportedly being fitted with the so-called defeat device, the German luxury carmaker actually sold more cars in September 2015.
With around 170,900 cars, the company increased its deliveries worldwide by 6.8 percent. Sales in the Americas rose by 11.9 percent while the brand’s business in Europe increased by 8.8 percent. We've seen similar numbers from Volkswagen, where the Diesegate scandal has not yet left a mark on sales.

“In light of the difficult market situation in important regions, we view our sales performance in the third quarter positively. Our growth in Europe demonstrates that new models are generating additional volume,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi.

The arrival of the all-new Q7 is largely to thank for for the increase in popularity of the Audi brand. Almost 80,000 models were delivered to customers in Europe, an improvement of 171% over September 2014. Strong demand for the Q7 also had a positive impact on Audi sales in Russia. Here, the carmaker witnessed the first positive numbers of 2015, with sales up 2 percent to 2,607 units.

In addition to the full-size SUV, the A7 and A8 models also performed well. Across all European markets, they accounted for combined growth of 14.1 percent.

Thanks to the roadster model's introduction, 4,900 more units of the Audi TT and TTS were sold in September than in the same month of last year.

The United Kingdom is now their second biggest market, surpassing Germany

During the strong sales of September, the UK performed exceptionally well, accounting for 28,778 new customers. It surpassed Germany, which stayed flat at 21,710 orders.

However, China remained their biggest single market, and despite the economic downturn, sales there grew nearly 3% to 53,095 Audis. A stop-sale order has been placed on modes with the 2.0 TDI engine in America. However, sales there rose by 11.9 percent while the brand’s business in Europe increased by 8.8 percent.
