Audi R8 Spyder UK Pricing Released

Taking advantage of the opening of the company's biggest center, located in the UK, German manufacturer Audi released pricing for their newest addition to the R8 range, the Spyder. The open top sportscar will have a starting price in the country of 109,580 British pounds for the 6-speed manual transmission version and 114,670 for the one which comes with the R tronic gearbox.

Hefty, some might say, but remember the Spyder is no toy. Powered by a 5.2l TSI engine, the vehicle has an output rated at 525 hp at 8,000 rpm, with the rev limit reached at 8,700 rpm and 530 Nm of torque.

The money to be paid on it will be paid back in full when you get to feel the huge acceleration, which propels the car from naught to sixty in 4.1 seconds and which eventually brings the needle to the 313 km/h (194.49 mph) mark.

The performances of the soft-top have been made possible by tampering with both the performances of the engine and the weight of the car itself. Its distinct characteristic, the retractable roof, takes 19 seconds to be removed. It can be pushed in its storage compartment above the engine even at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h).

As standard, the R8 Spyder will feature LED headlights, Nappa leather, Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated seats, DVD satellite navigation, and even seatbelt-mounted microphones.

The Spyder will be made available for order starting next month in the UK, but customers will have to give up the idea of receiving one as a gift from Santa. It will miss Christmas by as much as four months, as it will be delivered only sometimes in the first quarter of 2010.
