Not only it will be showcased at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), but the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel has just been announced as available for the British market from £40,060 OTR.
The new SUV model is said to be able to reduce up to 90 percent of the NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) emissions, considered by many as even more harmful than CO2.
According to the manufacturer, the 3.0-liter TDI engine already complies with the EU6 emissions limits that are not due to come to effect until 2014. The SUV is considered to have the “world’s cleanest diesel technology, which has been designed to maximize engine efficiency and to optimize the after-treatment of exhaust gas.”
Just like the other Q7s in the 2010 lineup, the 3.0 TDI doesn’t bring too many exterior improvements, except for the slightly restyled grille with chrome accents, new wheels, redesigned bumpers and minor modifications to the side sills. Moreover, the Q7 SUVs now offer standard LED taillights with available LED turn signals and daytime running lights.
Technical improvements have also been made to the upgraded Q7 models that now feature 3G MMI (Multi Media Interface) with automotive grade NVIDIA chip for graphics processing, along with SIRIUS traffic and joystick control.
As for the interior enhancements, the 2010 model includes optional ventilated front seats, a new decorative inlay on the passenger side of the dashboard, additional ambient lighting on all four doors, an upgraded MMI system, additional interior chrome accents, and a new instrument cluster.
The British market now waits for the second Clean Diesel model from Audi to become available, as the A3 TDI has been also recently released in North America, and is expected to hit the dealerships in late November 2009.
