Audi Officially Presents the S1 Badge

Many automakers like to tease special models before they are released by offering us sketches that only offer vague info about the cars.

The latest example in the field comes from Lamborghini, which has released no less than three teasers for its Paris Auto Show “stuff”.

However, there are also other ways of raising the automotive enthusiast’s interest. One of the most interesting methods has been created by the guys at Audi. Being Germans, the company’s employees used a calculate approach to develop an interesting (to say the least) teasing pathway for playing with our minds on the Audi S1 hot hatch subject.

After multiple unofficial sources indicated that the S1 will be built, the company came and said “yes”. Then, it slowly started to release pieces of information about it, but without offering exact details. Subsequently, the unofficial media reports started pouring again, this time stating that the vehicle will make its debut at next year’s Geneva Auto Show. Audi kept its mouth shut. Then, the media (including ourselves) went crazy and reported that the vehicle will bring a beef-up 1.4 liter TSI engine to the upcoming Paris Auto Show. Audi opened its mouth wide and... said nothing.

Then, at the beginning of the current month, the German carmaker presented the 185 hp A1 1.4 TFSI, announcing that this will be presented in Paris. We were almost killed by the news, as we all supposed that this means there will be no S1. What do you think Audi did? It kept its mouth shut again.

However, the company decided to have mercy on our automotive souls after all and carefully hid a small clue that confirms the S1’s future release.

The company’s original spare parts catalog shows that an “S1” badge will be available, as Autoblog.nl reports. (you can see this for yourself in the adjacent image).

Let’s keep on playing Audi’s game and write that this means that the S1 will come to the world (probably not at the Paris event) and we can only guess that it will come with a serious upgrade over the 185hp rating of the 1.4 TFSI version, which means that it might even get a different powerplant (the 2.0 TFSI could be the engine of choice).
