Audi Cup Trophy Details

As we informed you before, Audi will host on July 29 and 30, for the first time ever, the Audi Cup. This is a competition that gathers four of the most representative soccer team in the world and puts them head to head in a very interesting show held in the Allianz Arena.

Now we would like to focus on the trophy Audi has prepared for the event. First off, we remind you FC Bayern Munchen, AC Milan, Munchester United and Boca Juniors are the four teams, representing the four rings in Audi's emblem, that will compete for the title. The occasion seems to be quite a thrilling event due to its occurrence in a season-break period.

Audi says the trophy was designed specifically for this event and they were careful to fill it with meaning and symbolism. The winner's cup was designed by the team at Concept Design Munich and stands 60 centimeters high. The cup was made from aluminum and it displays the participating teams logos and Audi, DKW and Horch and Wanderer brands, that were precisely engraved on the trophy by laser.

Intelligent light-weight design using aluminum is a core competency of Audi’s. The material is intended to symbolize Audi’s innovation power – ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’”, says Wolfgang Egger, Audi Group Head of Design.

The cup took ten hours to transform from an aluminum block into a simple and elegant trophy using special milling techniques. The winner's cup features, exactly above the base, a golden metal ring with the inscription Audi Cup 2009, while the slightly smaller cups rewarded for second, third and fourth place, have silver, bronze and red rings above their base.

Four brands, four rings, four teams: This theme is reflected by the basic shape of the trophy with its four high-rising sections,” Egger explains the design concept.
