Audi and Toyota, the New Yankees Sponsors

Audi and Toyota will become the official automotive sponsors for the New York Yankees, replacing GM, which will step back as part of their cost cut measures taken by the company to overcome the economic crisis.

The two year collaboration between GM and the Yankees will end because the car manufacturer chose not to renew the contract.

"Chevy remains the official vehicle of Major League Baseball. However, some team agreements will end as we manage through the current business and economic challenges and look to reduce costs during this difficult time," GM said in a statement quoted by Autonews.

The three year contract signed between Audi and the baseball club comes into effect on April the 16th, with the opening season home game. The new relationship also includes the naming of the Audi Yankees Club, an exclusive viewing location and membership restaurant, located on the H&R Block Suite Level in left field. On certain occasions, Audi vehicles will be on display at the Babe ruth Plaza.

The Audi Yankees Club will be a branded space with the Audi logo displayed on the glass entrance doors and on a glass partition at the entrance and will provide guests with a private location to view the home games.

“As our brand continues to grow nationally, and in New York especially, a relationship with the Yankees makes perfect sense. Opening up the Audi Yankees Club was a great opportunity to get Audi front and center with one of America’s greatest franchises and to give Audi fans a terrific place to enjoy the games,” Scott Keogh, Audi America chief marketing officer said in a release.

As for Toyota, the Japanese manufacturer keeps to itself, as it decided just to confirm its involvement, but did not provide any additional details.
