Unofficial sources indicate that Audi is working on a new version of the Audi A4 Avant, which will bring a practicality bonus to the vehicle’s package. This will be a niche vehicle that will try to mix the assets of a station wagon with those of an MPV.
To be more precise, this will offer a high roof line and an extended wheelbase, but will try to keep the driving dynamics of the Avant. In addition to that, the car could use special styling signed by Italdesign, which is now owned by the VW Group.
The vehicle will be based on the next generation of the A4 and is expected to arrive in 2016. As for the engine range, this is expected to include a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol with 260 hp, as well as a 2-liter TDI unit producing 200 hp.
We probably don’t have to wait until 2016 to get an idea of what the Germans are planning for us, as a concept version is expected to be released in 2014.
