Audi’s new A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid is set to arrive in european dealerships in mid-2014, the German automaker revealed.
Revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the A3 Sportback e-tron will have an estimated starting price of €38,000. The vehicle will be powered by a 1.4-liter TSFI engine with 148 bhp and an electric motor that delivers 101 bhp.
Total output is rated at 201 bhp and 258 lb-ft, which means that the A3 e-tron will be able to reach a top speed of 138 mph (222 km/h) and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds. Average mileage is estimated at 188 mpg, while emission will be as low as 35 g/km.
When working on electric power alone, the A3 Sportback e-tron will have a range of 31 miles (50 kilometers) and a top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h) thanks to its 8.8 kWh battery.
In other related news, Audi is reportedly working on an MPV version of the A3 Sportback model. The new vehicle is expected to make its public debut sometime next year.
