German automaker Audi is reportedly working on an MPV version of the A3 Sportback model, with a concept car set to make its public debut sometime next year.
This piece of information came to us via Auto Express, who has quoted the company’s R&D boss Wolfgang Durheimer claiming that the future Ingolstadt-developed multi purpose vehicle will be an Audi in all aspects.
“I think there is definitely room for rational cars or family cars in the Audi line-up. But they have to be stylish, like any Audi,” Durheimer told our source. Not expected to arrive earlier than 2015, the A3 MPV will most probably share the market with similar cars build by German rivals Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
The current Audi A3 lineup consists of three and five-door hatchback, sedan and cabriolet models. Also, S, g-tron and e-tron versions are offered on the aforementioned versions.
