The rumors about Aston Martin making its return to Formula 1 by teaming up with Force-India are not new. But now, just before the final details are to be discussed, everything might become only a beautiful dream.
In a recent board meeting, Aston’s shareholders expressed their reservations about this deal and it is said that they are leaning more towards the decision not to re-enter Formula 1.

Nothing is lost, though, as the board members haven’t made a final decision on this matter, so there is still a chance for Aston Martin to return in the 2017 season, as it was rumored originally.

According to Sky Sports, the British carmaker is largely owned by Kuwaiti and Italian shareholders, and they don’t think this move would improve its current business performance. The company is being run by Andy Palmer, a former Nissan executive, who has drawn some plans for improving the business. It seems that the F1 return was not among them.

There has been a lot of talking around Aston Martin in the past few months, mostly due to its intensive marketing campaign centered on the recently released 007 James Bond movie, called Spectre, or the development of its first electric car together with Chinese partners.

Aston Martin did race in Formula 1 during the 1959 and 1960 seasons with the DBR4 and the DBR5/250 racing cars, but it is far from having an F1 legacy similar to Jaguar, for example.

While Formula 1 hasn’t really been a branch where the British company would make a stand, the same doesn’t apply to the LeMans Series where Aston managed a win in 1959, right after it was acquired by David Brown.

This isn’t the first time it is rumored that Aston Martin could make a return to Formula 1, as about a year ago, a partnership with either Red Bull Racing or Mercedes-Benz was in the British carmaker's sight, but, very much like now, nothing materialized.
