Aston Martin originally announced that 150 coachbuilt V12 Zagatos. he cost for one of these beasts is expected to arrive at GBP330,000 including taxes, which is roughly EUR450,000. But is that too much when the new Vanquish is such an amazing car.
Apparently, it is, because the automaker has gone back on its word and has now announced that only 101 examples will be manufactured. Still, what sounds like a dark cloud at first also has a silver lining: all examples will become more valuable since their exclusivity has gone up.
The V12 Zagato offers a hand-built aluminum body shell with a bit of carbon fiver sprinkled over the top. The model was built to celebrate the anniversary of Aston Martin’s collaboration with Italian coachbuilder Zagato.
“Our relationship with Zagato stretches back more than 50 years. Together in that time we have created a series of very special cars," said Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez. "The first – the DB4GT Zagato – is a true icon: fast, beautiful and incredibly desirable. In the V12 Zagato I believe we have captured the spirit of that car and combined it with a confident twist of modernity to give it a character all of its own.”
