Aston Martin’s DBX was a surprise when it was first revealed, and we still feel surprised to see it was created and it will become a production model.
The CEO of Aston Martin, Mr. Andy Palmer, has confirmed that the DBX will get a production version. Following the Bentley Bentayga will not be easy, but Aston Martin should have a few tricks up its sleeve to make the DBX’s production equivalent into a model that will attract new clients to the brand.
The DBX’s production version is expected to retain the SUV inspiration, along with the coupe styling, but rumors do not confirm the model to be a two-door body. Instead, Aston Martin is expected to go for a more traditional four-door body, but with a sloped roof.
If the description seems familiar, you should not be surprised, because that is what BMW offers with the X6, and Mercedes-Benz followed with the GLE Coupe. The Porsche Cayenne is expected to have an offspring that will be turned into their competitor as well, and the upcoming Aston Martin will come to rule them all.
For the moment, it is also unclear whether the production version of the DBX will be an all-electric model, or if the British brand will develop a more conventional propulsion solution. While the concept vehicle was an all-electric, all-wheel-drive model, it is unclear if this will be the only version available in the range.
Aston Martin would not be the first brand to introduce an electric SUV on the market, and you already know that Tesla Motors preceded it with that idea. Unlike Tesla, Aston Martin’s electric SUV will come with even more exclusivity, along with a price tag that will make a regular Joe stay well away from the showroom.
The 2020 Aston Martin DBX is expected to be revealed in the second part of 2019, when it should also enter production. The brand from Gaydon already started work on a factory for it, and it hired personnel to handle the tasks at hand.
