Aston Martin Cygnet on Display at Harrods

What better place for a car born to become an over expensive key chain for Aston Martin buyers to meet its dazzled audience than in the Harrods' window display in Knightsbridge? No other place is better, apparently, as that is where you'll see the iQ turned Brit from today until December 11.

The car has been put on display as a means to prepare its market entrance in 2011. Initially, it was created as a concept car, then as a type of reward for buyers of Aston Martin cars and finally slotted for production and sale.

The Cygnet is powered by a 1.3l engine which develops 98 hp, paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT transmission. The car's engine emits 110 grams of CO2/km and returns 58.9 mpg (4l/100km).

The construction of the Cygnet allows it to be used in three seating configurations, 2+2 seats, 2+1 seats and 2 seats. From the equipment point of view, the Cygnet comes with a wide range of features, including a satellite navigation system, an iPod integration and a premium audio system.

“Cygnet is highly appropriate for the environment for which it has been designed. With ample performance and maneuverability for urban use, it is light, compact and fuel-efficient yet also capable of carrying up to four people, all while providing Aston Martin's accomplished levels of luxury, comfort and quality,” Aston Martin said in a statement.

Orders for the Cygnet can already be placed across Europe, but the car won't become available until next year. It is the eighth production model coming from Aston.
