Asian Styling Set to Impress Europe: Chevrolet Miray Coming to Frankfurt

Small, agile, clean and green - the Miray concept embodies all of Chevrolet’s hopes for the future. This is probably one of the most celebrated pure design ideas to come of the automaker’s Asian division, and European fans of the Bowtie will get their chance to see it for the first time at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, according to an official statement made today. ""Miray' is Korean for 'future.' The concept strengthens the bond between car and driver and takes a fresh look at what a sports cars of the future might be," explains Brannon. "Many of the components used in its drivetrain are an extension of our systems. The Miray demonstrates the potential for rescaling and extending today's propulsion technologies." The concept was first shown at the Seoul Motor Show in March, and since then has won numerous design awards. It was created to celebrate Chevrolet's centennial anniversary which takes place this year. It offers a sports-roadster configuration and is powered by two electric motors mounted in the front, each producing 15 kW (about 20 hp). At the back, propulsion is taken care of by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine mounted behind the two seats that powers the back axle, making this an all-wheel drive hybrid. The last major element of the drivetrain is the 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is recharged by a regenerative braking system. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
