It may sound a bit awkward, but professional racing has something in common with soccer, and that’s the team player virtue. Similar to how a team of 11 footballers follow their leader, so should a racing team support the group’s ace. However, being the chief won’t always help you become the best if you don’t know the virtues of a real champion.
And that is what these videos that Mercedes-AMG Petronas have released recently are about. They were taken last month after F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton joined Arsenal football legends to take on some of Sky Sports’ finest presenters. Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher all got together for a celebrity match and Mercedes decided to make more of the occasion.

The two masters of their trade first talk about what it takes to be a true Champion. They both agree that what makes a sportsman stand out is the power to keep on winning, especially when people expect you to. It’s one thing to surprise everybody; it’s a whole different thing to manage to keep the stakes high for a long time.

However, any actual winner is nothing without his team, the mates who help him become the best of the best. That is why both Equipe de France de Football legend and Hamilton agree that without the virtues of being a team player, striving to become number one is not enough.

If there is a significant key to being successful in any sport that is the way people deal with failure and what coming back stronger is. In fact, we'd say that is a quality that becomes quite useful in real life too.

Other than the obvious marketing fact, we have to admit these interviews are a good way to learn that being at the top takes tonnes of work and that it’s not always fun and parties for these celebrities.

P.S.: We've only listed two videos below, but feel free to check out the rest of them on Mercedes-AMG Petronas' website
