American IronHorse Name and Trademarks Up for Sale

Texas motorcycle manufacturer American IronHorse is about to end its journey for good after Streambank, an advisory firm specializing in the sale of intangible assets, announced it is ready to sell the company’s most valuable properties: the name and trademarks. American Ironhorse filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, with a liquidation sale of remaining motorcycles, inventory, parts and equipment taking place in July 2009.

The assets for sale feature all trademarks, including but not limited to, American IronHorse, Texas Chopper, Slammer, Legend, Tejas and Outlaw model names. Also for sale will be the URLs, patents, and all available proprietary motorcycle and parts designs. The company’s data containing contact and valuable demographic information will be available as well.

“With its iconic horse head logo, consumers were drawn to American IronHorse not only for high performance motorcycles, but also to be a part of its culture,”
said Margaret Birlem, a Partner with Streambank LLC. “The brand holds an important place in American motorcycling and there are thousands of American IronHorse models on the road today.”

The company, considered by some the largest manufacturer of custom motorcycles, was founded in 1995. Ten years later it was producing up to 240 motorcycles a month in its 224,000 square foot facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

American IronHorse was also awarded a U.S. patent for its innovative gas tank design on the Texas Chopper, and the Slammer model won the prestigious “Bike of the Year” honors at the 2007 V-Twin Expo industry trade show awards. The company’s innovative wheel designs and patents are included in the sale.
