All eyes in the superyacht industry are now on Feadship's groundbreaking Project 821, which is not only the yard's largest build to date but also the world's first hydrogen fuel-cell megayacht, but this is not the only project the Dutch shipbuilder has been working on in the last few years.
Another remarkable yacht that the company has meticulously developed and has recently been delivered to its owner at the Royal Van Lent shipyard in Amsterdam is the 249-foot (76-meter) Alvia, a highly secretive project that was custom-built for a private owner.
Five years in the making, the Feadship Alvia is a luxury superyacht with unique features and amenities, with a design specifically tailored to meet the owner's needs and desires. Details on the yacht have been kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that it was sold by Burgess and that construction began in 2019 under the codename Project Hanami after the Japanese cherry blossom festival.
Alvia is a displacement motor yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. Responsible for its sleek, streamlined exterior is British design studio RWD, while naval architecture was penned by de Voogt, and the interiors have been completed by RWD in collaboration with Susan Young.
The pictures released so far showcase a three-deck vessel with a striking exterior profile defined by an ice-white hull and superstructure, a classic flared bow, and gently curving lines running from bow to stern.
All three decks are kitted out with amenities for maximal entertainment, while expansive alfresco areas and a generous beach club aft ensure guests will make the most of the yachting experience. Twin staircases connect the swim platform to the main deck, where a 21-foot pool is located, while the lower deck houses a wellness center with a spa, gym, and scenic sea terrace.
Other standout exterior features include a large, versatile sports court on the foredeck for outdoor activities and the bridge deck with interactive lighting for a magical experience.
Thanks to a beam of 43.3 feet (13.2 meters), Alvia boasts a generous volume of 2,265 GT. The spacious living quarters are brimming with luxury features as well, one of them being an elevator that connects the different decks, ensuring convenience for guests onboard.
No information on the interior layout has been revealed, but as on any luxury superyacht, the owner benefits from his own private deck with folding balconies that open up the interior and create additional alfresco relaxation areas.
To bring this project to life, the Burgess technical services team has collaborated with the owner’s representatives and some of the best engineers and designers in the industry. “We are delighted to have worked with such an experienced and professional owner’s team to help deliver this very special yacht,” declared Nathan Durley-Boot, marine engineer and project manager at Burgess.
Details regarding the propulsion system are also kept under wraps, but according to Burgess, the Alvia superyacht has a transatlantic range of 5,500 nautical miles (10,186 km).
