Alonso Warns He Will Attack in Korea

Fernando Alonso has changed his approach on the title fight this season, now that there are only 3 rounds remaining in the 2010 Formula One championship. If, until now, the Spaniard advised everyone to stay calm after a not-so-positive result, now the 2-time world champion admitted he will attack every time he gets the chance in the remaining races of the ongoing campaign.

And the first time he'll have a chance to showcase his new approach will be in Korea. From the looks of the new circuit, it seems Ferrari will hold the upper hand on the Yeongam track – thanks to its high-speed characteristics – and Alonso plans to take advantage of it.

In Korea we will have to attack because now we must close the gap to Webber. To lose any more ground would make the situation more complicated,” said the Spaniard in an interview with Ferrari's official website.

In Japan, where the Suzuka circuit suited the Red Bull cars, Alonso admitted that his 3rd place was the best he could have asked for. From now on, qualifying bad or losing more points to the championship leader Mark Webber will no longer be acceptable, he argued.

We are in a phase of the season where one negative weekend can cost us dear and to come away with a good third place from a race that we expected to be difficult was important.

Now we must put the (Japanese) weekend behind us and concentrate on the next race, where we know that we must try to raise our level of performance: another fifth place in qualifying would certainly not help us,” he added.

After the race at Suzuka, Alonso told the media that one race win and two podiums should solve the title winning equation for him in 2010.
