Alonso Unhappy with Lack of Running on Friday

Fernando Alonso did not hide his disappointment for failing to do the number of laps programed by the Scuderia for Friday, in Australia. The first practice session went down pretty well for Ferrari, but the second was heavily affected by rain and the Italian did not get the chance to fully test the soft compound from Bridgestone for the Albert Park circuit.

The Spaniard scored the 6th best time of the morning at Albert Park, while settling for the 15th lap time in the afternoon. During both sessions, he was slower than teammate Felipe Massa.

I think we maximised the first practice this morning with a good number of laps, and good information. And in second practice with rain it did affect the programme, we didn't do the laps we wanted, with the soft tyre especially,” said Alonso after the second practice session in Melbourne.

I think we don't have that information that is very useful for the race, but no one has that information so in a way it is okay and we are not worried. The things that we want to test more or less we did it at least 80 per cent so it is okay,” added the leader of the overall classification.

According to the weather reports Down Under, the temperatures in the Melbourne area will be much higher on race day as compared to Friday afternoon, meaning that the lack of running during the rainy FP2 will not make a big difference in terms of tire testing.

The first practice session in Australia was topped by Renault driver Robert Kubica, while McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button scored the fastest times in the second rain-affected session.
