Alonso to Attend Roadshow in Oviedo

Fernando Alonso will finally be part of Renault's Roadshow tour this year – probably his last with the Enstone based team – as the two-time world champion has confirmed his presence in his hometown Oviedo for the September event. Alonso will drive a Renault R28 – last year's car – through the streets of the aforementioned city the very weekend before the Italian Grand Prix.

The event will be held in the centre of Oviedo, in front of the Plaza de América to be more precise, and will feature plenty of donuts and burnouts from the Spanish driver. More than 100,000 fans are expected to hit the streets of Alonso's home town, as the Spaniard will also take the R28 for a demonstration drive on the Calle del Conde de Toreno highway.

I’m really excited that the Renault F1 Roadshow will visit my home town. I always enjoy taking part in Roadshows and I’ve already done a couple in Spain, but driving my car in Oviedo, the city where I was born, will feel even more special. It’s also a nice way for me to thank my fans for all the support they have given me over the years and I hope they will all come along and enjoy the show,” said Alonso in a statement.

Our Roadshows are always popular events that bring the sport to the public and offer fans the chance to meet the team, touch the cars and do things that would not be possible during a Grand Prix weekend,” added team's boss Flavio Briatore.

Fernando has always wanted to drive a Formula One car on the streets where he grew up and I’m sure this will be an unforgettable experience for him and the people of Oviedo. Considering the popularity of Formula One in Spain, I expect this Roadshow to be one of our most successful events yet,” concluded the Renault principal.
