Alonso Refuses to Hit Back at Massa's Comments

Fernando Alonso doesn't want to get on anybody's bad side at Ferrari, at least not during his first couple of months at the Scuderia. After praising his relationship with new teammate Felipe Massa during the Wrooom event in January, the Spaniard was tested by the Italian press after the second day of testing at Jerez.

Earlier this week, some reports issued by the Spanish media suggested that Felipe Massa doesn't seem to have become that close to his new teammate. He was even quoted as saying that the Spaniard needs to work harder in order to improve his relationship with the members of the Ferrari team, while arguing that Alonso is no longer the best driver in F1 following Schumacher's comeback in the series.

As a result, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo was the first to hit back at Massa's comments – curiously enough, we believe Alonso was supposed to do that but hey, that's us! – advising him to shut up (“Por que no te callas?”, the Spanish for “Why don't you shut up?”)

Ferrari immediately issued a statement in which it denies the initial reports about Massa's interview, saying that it's not true and the Brazilian's comments were misinterpreted by the media. Alonso also decided to keep quiet, insisting that he feels at home with his new team.

I don’t even know what we’re talking about. Imagine how much we worry about these things here in our team! I felt immediately at ease here in Ferrari and I’ve been warmly welcomed by everyone. It’s like being at home,” said Alonso.
