Alonso, Massa Deny Ferrari Team Orders

Fernando Alonso did not comment on the team orders allegations following the controversial German Grand Prix last weekend, insisting that both him, Felipe Massa and Ferrari did the best for the team on Sunday.

Massa had the start of his dream at Hockenheim jumping from 3rd to 1st at the end of the start/finish line, while Fernando Alonso followed him in 2nd place. In the first half of the race, the Spaniard was obviously quicker than his teammate, yet Massa kept battling for his position and kept the 2-time world champion on his tails.

At one point, Alonso screamed at his race engineer via radio “this is ridiculous”, after which he continued to run behind the Brazilian. Less than 20 laps to the finish line though, Massa's engineer Rob Smedley informed his partner that Alonso was quicker than him – which was seen as an obvious sign of team order – after which the Spaniard eased past his teammate.

We are professional drivers and we try to work as a team and we try to do the best we can every day. Not only here on the track but in the race and factory, preparing the races. Again I think we have been doing a good job in the last couple of races, finally we got a strong Sunday with a strong result. I think we are happy with this, all the other things it is more for you if you want to write all these things,” said Alonso after the race.

As Felipe said, we work for companies, we work for teams, sometimes we saw this year crashes between team-mates Today Ferrari has 43 points in its pockets. That is what we are here for. What is important is the team result,” added the Spaniard.

His teammate had spoked earlier about his 2nd place in the race, insisting that he thought about the team rather than himself on Sunday.

For sure we don't have team orders in the team. You just do the race you can and if you cannot do the race you can you have to think about the team,” added Massa.
