Alonso Denies No 1 Status at Ferrari

Although Red Bull is seen as highly favorite to clinch the majority of wins in the remaining 5 rounds of Formula One this season – thanks to the characteristics of the upcoming 5 circuits, which are believed to better suit the RB6 – there are plenty of voices hinting that Ferrari's Fernando Alonso finds himself in a better position for the title.

And that's because while Red Bull Racing and McLaren Mercedes have both drivers involved in the title fight – Mark Webber/Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton/Jenson Button respectively – Ferrari only has Alonso. And they will likely use Felipe Massa as a weapon to help the Spaniard in the title fight, while the other 4 drivers involved in this battle will constantly battle each other.

Needless to say, the fact that Ferrari has already chosen a No 1 and a No 2 driver for the remaining rounds of the season is being denied strongly by the Scuderia, and Alonso is the first one to play the evasive role in this story.

Each team will be giving 100 per cent with both their drivers for the common good of the team. Felipe Massa will be giving everything and it's the same with McLaren and Red Bull,” said Alonso, according to Marca newspaper.

Of course, one can't actually listen to those words without raising at least one eyebrow, especially after the much-discussed and controversial German Grand Prix, when the Spaniard was practically handed the win on a silver platter by his teammate after some disturbing coded orders from the pits, via radio. But anyway...

As far as the remaining 5 rounds of the season go, Alonso admitted that he can't really say whether they'll favor the Ferrari F10 or not, but said Red Bull should hold the upper hand on some of them.

From now until the end of the championship, I don't see the circuits either favoring or not favoring the F10. At some tracks, Red Bull will have an advantage,” added the Spanish driver.
