All F1 Title Chasers Used 8 Engines before Brazil

With only 2 rounds to go in the 2010 Formula One championship, all the mathematical title contenders this season have used all of their engines allocated for the ongoing campaign. While Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button had already used all 8 engines until the Korean GP, Red Bull's Mark Webber joined the club with his last fully-new unit used at the Yeongam circuit.

And most of you know what this means. It goes to show that the engine strategies used by the title contenders have worked out in similar ways, with the sole exception of Ferrari, whose drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa had already used their 8th and final engine before the Italian GP, at Monza.

From now on, engine reliability will become crucial. An extra engine will cost each of the aforementioned drivers a 10-place grid penalty for the race in which they'll use it, this translating into a big blow in the overall classification.

A good news for the 5 contending racers in 2010 is that the upcoming 2 races – Interlagos and Abu Dhabi – are not high-speed ones, meaning that the lower power for the used units will not become a great factor in the outcome of the race. Just to make things perfectly clear though, we'll present you with the engine situation for all the drivers in the 2010 roster, as showed by the F1's official website.
