A couple of hours ago, Alex Zanardi was practicing for the a new season in motorsport behind the wheel of a specially modified BMW Z4 car. However, it looks like his season was cut short by an accident that took out his collarbone.
The living legend posted a photo of an x-ray of his broken bone on Twitter the other day, saying that apparently it wasn’t hard enough to keep up with his will. Well, we’re sure the guardrail into which he crashed wasn’t either and it regrets getting in the way of the Italian driver.
We’re joking, of course, but we’re glad that he didn’t get injured worse and we hope to see him on the track in no time. We know that his will is stronger than anyone else in the field of motorsport these days and that he will soon be driving again.
However, all jokes aside, his movement is determined by the upper body since he lost his legs in a dreadful accident over a decade ago. Therefore, he’ll have to be twice as careful to recover as fast as possible.
In case you didn’t know, Zanardi is possibly the one guy in the world that can make Chuck Norris hide in the bushes. He survived a 2001 crash that claimed both his legs but then got back in a cockpit for BMW and drove in various sporting events, proving that you don’t need legs to be a good driver.
He also won Olympic gold, finished various marathons and triathlons, the most recent one in Hawaii where he had to rely solely on his hands to get over the 226-kilometer course that involved swimming amongst other things. Yeah, he is a living legend and we hope he gets better as soon as possible.

Today in training I crashed on to a guardrail. My collarbone wasn't strong enough, but I swear, the rail is hurt too! pic.twitter.com/dbYoSVuvq7
