Alcoa Rims Selected as Top Products

Alcoa's LvL ONE wide base aluminum wheel (this is destined for trucks) has been included in the list of Top Products of 2010 by the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Journal. The products that are selected for this have to bring a multitude of assets, such as innovation, usefulness to the end user, effectiveness in improving performance and serviceability, and potential to allow distributors to enhance their business.

"Our LvL ONE technology provides the advantages of a lighter, brighter and stronger wheel across our product portfolio," said Mike Parnell, Vice President and General Manager - Alcoa Commercial Vehicle Wheels. "This latest recognition for LvL ONE technology reinforces our commitment to delivering products that improve productivity and lower lifetime operating costs for our customers."

The wheel combines a low weight with a shiny look and a strong payload capacity. The LvL ONE technology was launched back in 2009 and now Alcoa offers it in applications that include most popular 22.5”, 24.5” and 14” wide base fitments. The proprietary development allows the wheel to improve vehicle productivity and to lower operating costs.

As part of the LvL ONE wheel family, Alcoa LvL ONE wide base wheels combine the advantages of the lightest weight, brightest appearance and strongest payload capacity in their class with the benefits of a wide base wheel application. The 14-inch Alcoa LvL ONEA wide base wheel weighs just 62 pounds, saving 1,350 pounds over steel single wheels on an 18-wheeler. That weight savings translates to improved load capacity or improved fuel economy for the vehicle,” stated the press release.
