Slovenian premium aftermarket exhausts manufacturer Akrapovic announces that specific motorcycle products fabricated in 2014 are now compliant with one of two European type approval standards. This will make these products readily available in the EU countries, but thanks to the international agreements, they will also be legal in other UN member states around the world.
This new type approval will be added to all Akrapovic motorcycle exhausts, and thus make them compliant with the following two directives. The first one is the European Community (EC type approval), and means that the products are compliant with the laws required by the European Union and are also recognized throughout all EU member states, and is a e-mark.

The second type approval is the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), with the distinct branding in the shape of a capital E, (E-mark). The ECE type approval is recognized in countries such as Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Malaysia, Egypt, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Australia, Montenegro, and Belarus, and is a precondition for local type approval in Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, and Thailand.

On a technical side, there is no difference between the two approvals, Akrapovic says. Products with these type approvals have passed the same quality tests and comply with the same noise limits, and the fulfilling of both directives allows Akrapovic to meet the local requirements in more countries, reaching more customers.

The company says that there will be no change in the quality Akrapovic became famous for, and every product will still be manufactured with the latest technology and high-class workmanship. It’s just the fact that the Akra motorbike exhausts will now sport the endorsement of the very latest version of the type approval.
