A co-branded advertising campaign will bring an automaker and a Hollywood studio together to promote their latest work.
A multimedia campaign will showcase both the Fiat 500X and the “Zoolander No.2” film across television, digital and social media. The partnership will make Derek Zoolander the face of the new Fiat 500X to promote both the movie and Fiat’s latest crossover.
Paramount Pictures’s upcoming film Zoolander No.2 will arrive in cinemas starting February 12, 2016. However, Fiat’s 500X is already in showrooms and is available in five trim models and 12 exterior colors. Curiously, the Italian company didn't promote the fact that the 500X is the first Fiat ever to receive an IIHS Top Safety + award.
The commercial starring both Ben Stiller’s character (Derek Zoolander) and the Fiat 500X will launch across television starting Monday, January 11. The commercial is also on YouTube and you can watch it below.
The new ad marks the second partnership between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Paramount Pictures. Their previous endeavor got pitchman “Ron Burgundy” to promote new Dodge models. Back then, Will Ferrell was promoting his latest movie, “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”
The co-branded advertising campaign was created in partnership with an agency called Trailer Park, the leading agency for entertainment and content marketing. The other agency involved in the move is Testa & Partners, the biggest Italian independent advertising company in the USA.
The result of the collaboration between these partners is a funny commercial for those who watched the first Zoolander movie, also starring Ben Stiller.
This time, the international male model famous for his “Blue Steel” look is showcasing it in front of speed cameras at an intersection in his yellow Fiat 500X. He’s eventually pulled over by a policeman and tries to excuse himself in front of the officer for his driving with an unusual reply for those unfamiliar with Derek Zoolander’s character.
