ACO Confirms 2011 ILMC Calendar

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest has earlier this week announced the complete and official schedule of the 2011 International Le Mans Cup. The next year's edition of the competition will be comprised of 7 races, with the action to take off on the North American continent, through the Sebring 12-Hour race, scheduled for March 19.

The next three races on the calendar will happen in consecutive months – May, June, July – as follows: LMS's Spa-Francrochamps 6-Hour race (May 8), the famous Le Mans 24-Hour race (June 11-12) and LMS's Imola 6-Hour Race (July 3rd). The Silverstone 6-Hour race will take place on September 11, while followed by the Petit Le Mans, on Road Atlanta, some three weeks later.

Finally, the season-ending event will take place in China, on a circuit whose name is yet to be unveiled. The 6-hour race will take place on November 12th.

Thanks to this balanced international seven-race calendar our events will take place in six countries on three continents, so the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will really take off in 2011,” said Jean-Claude Plassart, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest is especially proud to contribute directly to the international development of this branch of motor racing in which the sporting, competitive and attractive aspects for the general public are highlighted, as well as the most innovative technologies,” he added.

We’re convinced that this calendar is going to enhance the values of endurance through a technological, responsible and sporting approach towards racing that will give endurance the place it deserves. For its first full season, this programme meets the expectations of spectators, manufacturers, teams and partners with seven events on some of the most legendary motor racing circuits in strategic economic markets,” concluded Frédéric Henry-Biabaud, ILMC General Manager.
