Seriously now, what’s with all this recent avalanche of tuning examples targeting Audi models? We do understand that Geneva is knocking on the door, but so many upgraded models in a single day can confuse even the supreme tuning aficionados.
After MTM made sure almost no model in Audi’s range escaped unpunished by their devilish performance packs, ABT takes over and sticks this matte-painted beast in our faces like they want us addicted to it.
What they don’t know is we’ve had that all day from their rivals so their best chance to impress is to beat MTM’s RS6 Clubsport by a mile. Which takes us to the main subject: the facelifted RS6-R, ABT’s latest weapon of choice.
There’s also a funny catch to it, since the paintwork was named “Daytona gray matte” and ABT takes a cheeky swing at America’s motorsport culture by saying that their estate’s engine “is more powerful that the NASCAR racers over there in America”.
But who can blame them, after all, especially since their Power S kit plays the alchemy card and converts the standard 560 HP output into 730 HP, making this cursed family car tear apart the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) interval in just 3.3 seconds. And then there’s the 320 km/h (199 mph) top speed which makes the entire blasphemy even more delicious.
Even if the ABT RS6-R is 30 HP short compared to the RS6 Clubsport and 0.1 second slower that its rival, it will certainly win some beauty contests (by scaring off all the other participants) which we can’t really say about the MTM’s offspring. By the way, wait to see those saucy 22-inch FR alloy wheels.
But then again, looks are subjectivity’s best friend so we won’t bother too much with this topic, at least not until we get to see the estate in the metal, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
