Say goodbye to Umiles Next and hello to Crisalion Mobility. The Spanish electric mobility company has changed its name and expanded its executive team, in addition to securing investments from two major groups in Spain. All of this will pave the way for its innovative approach based on fully integrated air and ground e-mobility.
Crisalion is not a random name, but the combination of two symbolic concepts, that of a chrysalis and a lion. It's supposed to reflect the innovative and courageous aspects of AAM (advanced air mobility).

This is the new name of a Spanish electric mobility company that was previously known as Umiles Next. Unlike many eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) developers, Crisalion tackles both air and ground transportation, linking them within a unitary vision based on two main elements – electric propulsion and automation.

For the ground-based aspect, Crisalion is developing fleet management solutions based on remote operation from a control center. The Intellydrive technology allows operators to control any type of vehicle and to manage vehicle convoys for coordinated travel.

For the air mobility part, the Spanish company has developed an eVTOL based on the exclusive FlyFree technology created by the Tecnalia research hub. This advanced rotor control software promises better stability, maneuverability, and safety.

Integrity is the company's five-seat (plus the pilot) eVTOL incorporating the FlyFree technology. It promises a 100 km (62 miles) range and a cruising speed of 180 kph (112 mph). The Integrity electric aircraft can handle short-to-medium distance travel, and its flexible configuration can be adapted for multiple domains, including cargo, tourism, and emergency medical transport.

Last year, Crisalion conducted the first flight tests of its Integrity Concept prototype. They took place in Toulouse, France, as part of the European TindAIR project that focused on urban air traffic management solutions for unmanned aircraft. This is why, during the flight tests, the Integrity prototype was accompanied by other unmanned air taxis. Someday, we'll see different pilot-free air vehicles operating harmoniously within the same urban area.

Last October, the Spanish company's prototype also nailed its first free flight in Spain. The tests took place at the ATLAS Test Flight Centre in Villacarrillo, Jaén. This center specializes in testing unmanned aviation technology and remotely piloted systems. Once again, the Concept aircraft was flanked by other unpiloted aircraft at different layers.

Revamped and ready to conquer the world, Crisalion is set to bring its ground fleet management solution to the market as soon as next year. Its complex system for fully automated air mobility will have to wait a while longer to enter commercial service. The Spanish brand hopes to operate the Integrity eVTOL as part of a wider mobility system by the end of this decade.
