The Porsche 'Nine Eleven' two-door 2+2 high-performance rear-engined sports car has been around since late 1964 and has turned into a veritable living icon thanks to its continuously enhanced yet little-changed basic concept.
In fact, it's easy to assume that, just like with a few other outstanding designs, even a toddler could recognize the shape and flavor of a Porsche 911. That's quite interesting since the premium automotive company from Germany hasn't stayed idle regarding model variants and variations.

For example, the current 911, the eighth generation of the series, is available as a Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, and Carrerra 4S, just as an appetizer. Then there are also the Targa 4 and 4S, Carrera GTS plus 4 GTS and Targa 4 GTS, followed by the Turbo and Turbo S, as well as the GT3, GT3 Touring, GT3 RS, and a variety of special editions.

Among them, we could name the Sport Classic or 911 S/T but also the quirky 911 Dakar. The latter has the same performance specifications as the 911 GTS – the 3.0-liter flat-six engine with 473 hp and 569 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, but the car has exclusively AWD and other tweaks that make it susceptible to playing on light trails, sand dunes, and mud.

Unfortunately for its many fans, the 992-series Porsche 911 Dakar production is limited to just 2,500 units. But what if the success is big enough to warrant the limited series' integration into the next-generation lineup? Well, if that won't happen in the real world, nobody says the imaginative realm of digital car content creators needs to adhere to the same OEM strategy.

For example, the good folks over at car.design.trends have recently (re)focused our attention on an unofficial Porsche 911 proposal done by Cole Kessel, who uses AI creatively and exceptionally efficiently. This pixel master is quietly enamored with all things Porsche, and he has done so many design projects that we have even seen the 911 transformed into a golf cart.

Anyway, on this occasion, the CGI expert decided that Porsche needs a secret testing facility in Denver, Colorado, for the upcoming 993-series 911 he has imagined with the power of Midjourney and Photoshop's generative AI fill setup. Over there, we see the author has thought about integrating the 911 Dakar from the get-go into the 911 lineup because we can clearly see the off-road version going beyond the tarmac. In contrast, the regular coupe stops shy of crossing the virtual boundary.

So, which is your favorite? Also, do you think that Porsche should start making electrification a more attainable goal by infusing the next generation of 911s with the power of mild hybrid, full hybrid, or PHEV powertrains?
