Holes in the body work, rust everywhere, duct tape and wire holding pieces in place and rims that don’t match... it must be a rat rod, right? Nope, its a Chevy truck that faithfully did its job for more than 50 years.
We don’t exactly know how it spent its first life part, but when Mr. Bob Sportel bought it 38 years ago, it was already a “bit” exhausted and most of the dashboard was busted.
According to Kare11’s report, Sportel spent only $75 to buy the truck that day. He was in his 20s and needed a cheap car to take him to and back from work at the Prinsburg Farmers Co-op.
He thought he’d be lucky if the truck would last him a week from the moment he bought it, from which we assume it was in a poor condition even from the start. Still, Bob retired last week and was happily surprised to commute one more time in his old Chevy, which is now 58 years old and still works.
There’s not a single shiny piece left on it, rust made holes in the bodyworks in a few places, there’s no radio, duct tape holds the upholstery altogether and everything screeches. Sportel estimates the truck drove for over 300,000 miles, which is the absolute best you can get out of a 75 bucks car.
After all the pickup went through and still goes, we believe Chevrolet should reward Bob with a shiny new Colorado at least.
