For reasons largely revolving around model congestion, the engineers from Afflaterbach never received the go-ahead to develop AMG versions for the current generations of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.
This wasn't all bad, as the 500/550 models had plenty of push anyway, while the facelift brought the new 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that develops more power and torque than AMG V8 engines from a decade or so ago.

Things evolve though, and current V8-engined AMGs are pushing over 500+ hp and 700+ Nm (516 lb ft) in pretty much every model except for the naturally-aspirated SLK 55 AMG (R172).

In other words, having “only” 407 hp and 600 Nm (443 lb ft) of torque in a top-of-the-range E 500/550 Coupe or Cabrio is now a bit low for some people.

Thankfully, there are chip tuning specialists like the Belgians from BR-Performance, who can transform your Mercedes-Benz E 500 Cabriolet into something that can easily keep up with an AMG in terms of both power and torque with just a little ECU tuning.

The car tested on the dyno bellow pushes no less than 512 hp and and a staggering 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, which is exactly the same as an E 63 AMG S-Model.
