$225,000 Chevy Volt Bought by Rick Hendrick

The first ever Chevrolet Volt produced for public sale has, a
s you already know, managed to sell for an impressive $225,000. The announcement was made only a few days ago by GM, but at the time, the name of the buyer was not revealed.

Now, however, that information has been made public. The first Volt has been purchased for all that money by Rick Hendrick, known to the world as the owner of Hendrick Motorsports, a man used to having its name associated with the American brand.

As already unveiled, all the money raised by selling the model will go into charity, more precisely to support the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.

“Hendrick Motorsports has been racing Chevys since 1984, and any success we’ve had is due to the quality of our people,” said Hendrick.

“The Detroit Public Schools will prepare the next generation of talented engineers and technicians who will help Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports compete at a high level on the racetrack every weekend.”

The first Volt sold in the US, wearing the VIN number BU10002, is painted in the first color the model was presented to the world in, Viridian Joule, and comes with Light Neutral interior with dark accents, Premium Trim Package, Rear Camera and Park Assist Package, and polished wheels.

The Volts for the masses have also begun reaching their customers, with the first one being delivered earlier this week to a man in Denville, N.J. For him, the price of the Volt was well under the one paid by Hendrick: a Volt retails in the US starting from $41,000, or $33,500 net of full federal income tax credit.
