The second-generation Trax has entered the 2025 model year, and the biggest change over 2024 is the engine. As opposed to the outgoing LIH EcoTec 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder lump, the 2025 Chevrolet Trax levels up to the LBP EcoTec 1.2-liter turbo.
Other than the regular production order code, is there any difference between these versions of the GM E-Turbo engine? On paper, not really. Both develop 137 horsepower at 5,000 revolutions per minute and 162 pound-feet (219 Nm) at 2,500 revolutions per minute. However, the LBP is compatible with E85 ethanol-gasoline blend. Said powerplant is shared with the Buick Encore GX.

Attached below, the order guide for the 2025 Chevrolet Trax reveals eight paint colors instead of the previous ten, of which Marina Blue Metallic and Nitro Yellow Metallic retail at $395. The former is new for model year 2025, and the same can be said about the no-cost paint dubbed Cypress Gray.

Exclusively front-wheel drive, the Trax uses a torque-converter automatic with six forward ratios. EPA lists the 2025 model with 30 miles per gallon (7.8 liters per 100 kilometers) on the combined test cycle with gas in the fuel tank, while the combined rating for E85 is 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km).

Quite a staggering difference, but remember that flex fuel is a different animal from dinosaur juice. Consisting of 51 to 83 percent ethanol and gasoline for the remainder, the corn brew has two main advantages and two disadvantages over gasoline. For starters, it sports a higher octane content and burns cleaner. The downsides come in the form of less energy per gallon and ethanol's corrosive properties.

GM lists five grades for the 2025 Chevrolet Trax, beginning with the well-equipped LS at $21,495 including the $1,095 destination charge. The 1RS and 2RS are priced at $23,395 and $25,395, respectively, whereas the LT is $200 more than the 1RS. Advertised as ACTIV in uppercase letters, the best-looking grade costs the same as the 2RS.

Both the 1RS and LT are $200 pricier than their 2024 equivalents. The same applies to the 2RS and ACTIV, which are $400 more expensive. When it comes to extras, the most important are the $995 LS Convenience Package and the $595 LT Convenience Package. The former includes heated front seats and power-adjustable mirrors, body-color mirror caps, 17-inch silver aluminum wheels, carpeted rear floor mats, and remote start.

The LT Convenience Package also includes heated front seats and power-adjustable mirrors, along with a heated steering wheel and keyless open. Codenamed ZL3, the $795 Sunroof Package is available on every trim except for the LS.

Roomier than its predecessor, the Trax is manufactured in South Korea at the GM Korea-operated Changwon plant. General Motors delivered no fewer than 109,382 units of the Trax in 2023 stateside, representing a massive 311.3 percent increase over the 26,597 sold in 2022.
