The G82 BMW M4 and G22 BMW 4 Series rolled out in 2020, which means that a mid-cycle refresh is due this year. Coming to dealers for the 2025 model year, the Life Cycle Impulse has leaked online with little in the way of stylistic changes.
The leaked photos comprise a single picture of the M440i Coupe and three of the M4 Convertible. Both cars feature new headlamps and taillamps. The M4 rocks a slightly updated interior, which retains the Curved Display dual-screen layout of the 2024 model. Pictured with carbon-fiber seats up front and a flat-bottom steering wheel, the M4 retains the oversized kidney grilles of the pre-facelift model.

The M440i also sports the old setup. The M440i's front bumper carries over, but curiously enough, the M4 features a slightly revised front bumper. As far as the oily bits are concerned, we're utmost certain that BMW switched to TU2 engines. In the German brand's vernacular, TU means technical update.

The 430i should receive the B48B20O2 with the same 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet (400 Nm) of twist as the outgoing B4820O1. Further up the spectrum, the M440i gets the B58B30M2 with 375 horsepower and 384 pound-feet (520 Nm) on tap. Come March 2026, the B47 four-cylinder and B57 six-cylinder turbo diesels be upgraded to EU7 compliance for the United Kingdom and European markets.

Regarding the M4, hearsay suggests a slight power bump for the Competition. 530 ps (523 horsepower) is the output in question, whereas the 2024 BMW M4 Competition produces 510 ps (503 horsepower). Peak power is produced at 5,730 revolutions per minute rather than the current 5,500 revolutions per minute. Peak torque remains unchanged, or so claim sources close to BMW.

With the M4 CSL on its way out, BMW prepares to fill the void with the M4 CS. You can think of it as the M3 CS with two fewer doors and M xDrive all-wheel drive rather than rear-wheel drive. Boo and hiss, right? While M xDrive may sport a rear-wheel-drive setting, bear in mind that all-wheel drive adds unwanted weight to an already heavy vehicle.

The 4 Series LCI is expected with at least one new paint color in the form of Dragon Fire Red, as well as a handful of new wheel designs. The G22 coupe and G23 convertible are due to enter series production in March 2024. Series production will reportedly come to a grinding halt in June 2028.

As for the M4 CS, production is believed to start in July 2024 and end June 2025. Similar to the M3 CS, the M4 CS is expected to number in the ballpark of 2,000 units. The M4 CSL, by comparison, is strictly limited to 1,000 examples for the entire world.

In light of these leaked photos and information, the M4 LCI and 4 Series LCI should premiere in a matter of hours. As ever, production will be handled by the Dingolfing and Munich plants. The Gran Coupe is assembled in Munich, whereas the Coupe and Convertible are manufactured in Dingolfing.
