The second-generation Toyota Mirai has just stepped into the 2024 model year, with the Japanese automaker announcing a few changes across the range and a price bump.
First things first, let's see what's new, starting with the safety gear. Toyota's Safety Sense 3.0 is now standard across the range. It includes the full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, proactive driving assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The company also mentions the blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, and reversing camera.

Second and last, the 2024 Toyota Mirai features a few aesthetic changes, as well. Don't look for anything important, like new bumpers and lighting units at both ends, as the updates in this department are minor. For one, the Japanese automaker has given its hydrogen-powered sedan a new exterior paint finish. It is called Elemental Silver and can be ordered on both grades. Rounding off the makeover is the new Beyond Zero badging, shared with the brand's EVs and HEVs.

Pricing for the base XLE now starts at $50,190, a $690 bump compared to the 2023 model year. It features keyless entry with a smart key, panic button, auto-leveling headlamps, LED interior lighting, power-adjustable front seats with heating wrapped in SofTex, a JBL audio system with 14 speakers, a wireless charging pad, auto-dimming rearview mirror, etc.

Optionally, the base variant can be specified with the Advanced Technology Package, with digital key compatibility, illuminated front footwell, front and rear parking assist with automated braking, and a panoramic view monitor.

Buyers looking to get even more gear from their 2024 Toyota Mirai can upgrade to the Limited. This range-topping trim level has an MSRP of $67,155 for the latest model year, which makes it $1,155 more expensive than its predecessor. So, what extras would you get if you opt for this model? Those would be the ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, panoramic moonroof with fixed glass panels and power sunshade, and Advanced Park.

Refueling it with hydrogen takes around five minutes, and it has an EPA-estimated range of 402 miles (647 km). The Mirai's electric motor, which drives the rear wheels, churns out 182 horsepower (185 ps/136 kW) and 300 pound-feet (407 Nm) of torque. Toyota says the model needs 9.2 seconds to accelerate to sixty miles an hour (97 kph) from zero.

According to Toyota, the fuel cell components have an 8-year/100,000-mile (160,934 km) warranty, and there is a 10-year/150,000-mile (241,402 km) warranty on the key hybrid components. The ToyotaCare maintenance plan is also included for three years or 35,000 miles (56,327 km), whichever comes first.
